Project Overview

Global Brigades completed an engineering design in Copal Arriba in January 2016. GB is now seeking funding to drill a well to provide access to water to over 300 community members.

Copal Arriba, Honduras

The community of Copal Arriba, in southern Honduras have two 5,000 gallon storage tanks that serve two sectors with water, one by gravity and the other sourced by a well. However, there are 62 families, approximately 300 community members, that would benefit from an improvement in the current system. These families are suffering due to a lack of access to the existing system and do not currently have continuous access to water. There is a well that has been drilled in the vicinity and could serve as potential water source for these families. The water in the existing systems is not being properly treated and the Water Council is in need of technical assistance.

Water System Solution

Global Brigades has completed an engineering design to provide clean water to the homes in Copal Arriba that do not currently have access. The design included the construction of a 10,000 gallon tank to serve as an additional water storage unit. GB will work with Copal Arriba to drill approximately 200 feet and install 4,044 meters of piping. The community and GB are currently seeking funding for the project.
